POWER

xpatofthemind This album has a lot more diverse sounds on it than their first one. Each track is like a little take on a different era of Motown influence. And that voice!!!! Favorite track: Gotta Get To Know Ya.
Ben Harris
Ben Harris thumbnail
Ben Harris Brought a world-weary smile to this tired old black metal nerds face. Stuff like this is, if I'm honest, falls a little outside of my usual listening fare. But for all the weird distorted nonsense I tend to lean towards, good old fashioned songwriting and bittersweet tunes act as a very effective tonic. Refreshes my brain-ears. The title track deserves to be a hit. Favorite track: Sad Boi.

Yoshimasu Kamiya 神谷嘉益 I honestly miss the driving rock sounds of "Get Gone," but I'll always be a huge fan of AJ Haynes' voice regardless of genre! Favorite track: Gotta Get To Know Ya.

Fear 03:34
Maybe I’m selfish if I never come home. Maybe I’m reckless--got one foot out the door, longing for what I never had. I stepped in the water and the water was cold-- Shivered my body, but didn’t worry my Soul. Fear is the weight of the world coming down with no Love in return. Fear is the weight of the world coming down. Whether the season, can you weather the storm? I want to believe you, but I’ve been here before. Fear is the weight of the world coming down with no Love in return. Fear is the weight of the world coming down. Longing for what I never had-- Let’s watch it fall, I couldn’t care... Another lie in an empty bed. Just pull the covers over my head. pullthecoversovermyhead, Pull the Covers Over My head. Fear is the weight of the world coming down with no Love in return. Fear is the weight of the world coming down like the bridges I burned. Fear is the weight of the world coming down.

Power 03:44
Brighter days coming, but I can’t see where I’m going. In the dark morning I hit the ground running cause this grind is so damn real. Trying to break that same bad deal with the devil that I know and the devil that I don’t. We take two steps forward, They take one step backward. We take each step to lift us up Higher. Mama said, “Listen--your first mind is your greatest intuition” Find the Strength in your hands and you will pull your way out of the quicksand. But this grind is so damn real-- trying to break that same bad deal with the devil that I know and the Devil that I don’t. We take two steps forward, They take one step backward. We take each step to lift us up Higher. Two steps forward They take one step backward We take each step cause We. Have. The. Power. POWER POWER POWER POWER Been a long time living and I made the best with what I have been given. Will you stay? Prove it. Honey, the way I’m made I got to keep on moving. POWER POWER POWER POWER Two steps forward, They take one step backward. We take each step to lift us up Higher. We take two steps forward They take one step backward We take each step cause We. Have. The. Power.

Heart Attack 03:07
Kiss me like a heart attack-- Attack. C’mon illuminate me...just close your eyes and count to 10. All of your ruminating will be your ruin in the end. I can’t hear the warning sign when you put your lips to mine. Kiss me like a heart attack-- Attack. Oh what’s your hurry, darling? Do you have something to confess? Nothing can last forever, but there is nothing quite like this. Honey, you are heaven sent--on your knees now. Say Amen. Kiss me like a heart attack-- Attack.

Lie to my face and cry me a river. You play your game and blame me forever. Cut like a blade, the way that you sever all this Time... I knew you would Lie to my face. Lie to my face. Lie to my face. Lie. Lie. Lie to my face. I draw my line and you always wanna move it. You jumped the gun just to prove that you could do it. I’m getting tired of all of your bullshit alibis. Too many Lies told too many times (over and over) will become the Truth. Should I bury you in Time?
5.
Ooh your lips are moving, but baby can you move with me? Turn up, Turn on, Tune in--but baby can you drop the beat? No more complications, gimme that company. Take off all your cool if you wanna feel the heat-- Feel the heat of my Fire. I know what you’re doing. Don’t you play games with me. I know what I’m doing. Baby, don’t fuck with me. Feel the heat of my Fire. I gotta get...to know ya. Everybody’s talking at the same time same sign headline news sign who could be who could be... Who could be Delivered? No more conversation, gimme just what I need. Temperatures are rising--baby’s gonna feel the heat. Feel the heat of my Fire. I gotta get...to know ya.

Over You 02:41
If you see me walking down the street, keep on moving and shuffle your feet. Don’t look over here--don’t look over here. Cause I’m over you. Called it from a million miles away. I knew better, but I had to try. Don’t you cut your eyes--don’t look over here. Cause I’m over you. We made love like pianos falling down the stairs and out into the roaring traffic. I’m over you. Now you’re racing round and circling the drain and baby I cain’t hardly stand it. I’m over you. Everyday I’m getting better. Everyday I’m getting better. Everyday I’m getting better…

Permission 03:26
i’ll let you put on my makeup. i can make you feel dangerous. baby, can you draw the line? do you know what you’re made of? can you shake it, can you change up? can you be all mine? i can teach ya, baby--but whatcha gonna do for me? i can let you roll the dice, but it doesn’t mean you play for free. i can see you dripping in lace... see you dancing in leather. you name the place. i’ma tell ya what i need from you. you can whisper what ya need, too. i’ll be your sweet delight. we could open up a convo... ya only Fear what you don’t know. make you start to think twice. i can teach ya, baby--but whatcha gonna do for me? everyone’s a winner when the satisfaction’s guaranteed. make me say...mmm…

Sad Boi 02:51
i see you at the bar looking nervous, too high, too shy to talk to me. got your hat pulled down and you look like hell-- gimme you’re bad poetry. i can see us making out on your best friend’s couch in the glow of the TV light. and I know you’re gonna say, “It’s not you, it’s me,” when you leave at the end of the night. you like Bukowski and Baudelaire. you like the way i comb my hair. we’ve been sitting here for too long. you already played me your song. i ain’t trying to start something new. i ain’t worried about what you do. i ain’t stressed about what you’re messing up. i just wanna get next to you. something about a sadboi. tell me why you mad, boy? think i wanna sadboi to keep me company. gotcha on my mind, boy. i’ll give you a try, boy if you get me high, boy and keep me company. Oh honey you got trouble on your mind. i got your number and you got mine. it must feel good to be so sad all the time. I can’t help myself…
9.
Making eyes when you meet me on the corner. Tell me how you been? Looks like there’s some trouble in the water. Something’s happening... We already know where this is going. C’mon honey now’s the time to show me if you play for keeps or throw it all in the deep—rolling til the morning. Who are you now? Hide and seek when ya looking in the mirror. Tell me who you see? Truth or dare me to run away forever far as I can see. Singing to the shadows on the ceiling. Spin around, ooh babe you got me reeling. Like a hurricane, without a reason to be—carried by the breeze and... Who are you now? You can be the one I need or you can be the one I’m gonna leave behind.

Crossfire 04:53
Mother, i’ve had enough today. tried to recover, but don’t know who to blame... i wonder how one can sleep at night-- i don’t know who to Trust when i saw the flash of Light. save a little Loving at the end of the day. i’ll be strong for you in a song for you. caught up in the middle when the crossfire fades, i’ll hold on for you-- just hold on to me. Lover, i’m trying to be kind, but my dreams are paper-thin floating in the air… and i can feel the spin. Lover, my heart is caving in-- if they pull me over me over, will i see you again?
